NEW WASHINGTON, Ohio - The Wurm family announced today that it has acquired majority assets of Creative Plastics, Inc. Creative Plastics has facilities near Jackson Center, Ohio.

Creative Plastics, established in 1968, is an ISO 9001 registered fabricator of vacuum and pressure formed ABS, PVC, Polyethylene, Polystyrene and Plexiglas composites. Its thermoformed products are primarily used in the production and assembly of medical equipment, office furniture and retail displays, residential construction and a variety of other products for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the industrial, specialty vehicle and travel trailer industries, including reusable shipping containers and systems for material handling.

"This purchase creates a unique opportunity for us to supplement Wurm’s Woodworking existing plastic manufacturing capabilities with access to high volume rotary forming and roll fed inline product offerings” stated Jerry Wurm, President of Wurm’s Woodworking. "This capability fits very nicely into our strategy to be cost effective on all sized volume runs," added Rick Wurm, Vice President. “Customers can continue to expect high-quality products.”

Keith Korn, Senior Vice President of Creative Plastics said, "Randy (Korn, Vice President, Operations) and I expect this strategic move to serve both companies well. It will place Creative Plastics in a better position to focus on core manufacturing activities; while offering access to sheet fed thermoforming." Randy and Keith will have a continued vested interest in the future operations and ownership.

Gerald, Richard and Valerie are second and third generation members involved in the Wurm family business, Wurm’s Woodworking. The Company, established 1947, is a precision fabricator of cut-to-size component products from engineered, composite and plywood panels as well as high pressure laminates and polymer sheet materials. The Company also utilizes foil membrane press technology creating 3D profiles normally requiring separate edge molding treatment.  The Company’s origins in plastic began in 1980s when many of its current wood based customers began to switch or also utilize plastic components.
